Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE)

COVID-19 response

Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) is one of the key pillars of UNICEF’s COVID-19 response.

UNICEF Communication for Development is co-leading COVID-19 RCCE efforts at the Interagency level (jointly with WHO and IFRC) as well as leading UNICEF RCCE work (together with key sectors, divisions and programs).

Keeping with the philosophy of people’s centered approaches, communities’ self-reliance and social justice that have been at the heart of UNICEF’s overall organizational response, UNICEF’s RCCE strategy should embrace the following key principles:

  • Rights-Based

  • Evidence-based

  • Systems strengthening

  • People-centred

  • Accountability to affected populations

  • Do-no-harm.
