UNICEF Gender-Based Violence in Emergencies (GBViE) Programme Resource Pack Kit 3.1: Programming-Responding to GBV Survivors in Emergencies Guidance Book
There are five sections in Kit 3.1: Section 1 Introduction to Response provides an overview of the phases of response, UNICEF’s determinant framework and good practice in GBV response in emergencies. Section 2 Healthcare for GBV Survivors in Emergencies covers response to the physical and acute mental health effects of sexual violence and other forms of GBV. Section 3 Strengthening Psychosocial Support for GBV Survivors in Emergencies looks at the provision of crisis support, as well as emotional and practical support, for the survivor and her family; information, referral and advocacy; case management; and access to age-appropriate economic and social empowerment programmes. Section 4 Improving GBV Survivor Safety in Emergencies addresses the safety needs of survivors who are at risk of further violence and need emergency shelter or protection. Section 5 Strengthening Access to Justice for GBV Survivors in Emergencies overviews the criminal justice response to GBV, including investigation and prosecution; legal aid and other victim services; and working with traditional justice mechanisms to promote the rights of survivors.
